    The Alzheimer’s Association Long Island Chapter offers free education programs in-person and virtually. These programs provide information on topics including the signs of Alzheimer’s disease, diagnosis, communication, living with Alzheimer’s and caregiving techniques.

    We also offer programs to organizations and community groups, by request. To schedule an education program for your group, please call 800.272.3900 or email us at longislandchapter@alz.org.

    10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer's
    Alzheimer’s and other dementias cause changes in memory, thinking and behavior that interfere with daily life. Join us to learn about 10 common warning signs and what to watch for in yourself and others.

     

    Alzheimer's Community Forum
    This provides you with the opportunity to share your experience with Alzheimer's disease and discuss how the Alzheimer's Association can best serve your community. Together, we can help enhance care and support resources for those facing the disease. Light refreshments will be served.


    Building Brain-Healthy Habits
    Discover research-based habits that support brain health at every age. This in-depth program explores practical strategies for healthy eating, physical activity, quality sleep, and cognitive engagement, and helps you create an action plan to build lasting brain-healthy routines.


    Managing Money
    Join us to learn tips for managing someone else's finances, how to prepare for future care costs and the benefits of early planning.


    The Empowered Caregiver Series
    This education series teaches caregivers how to navigate the responsibilities of caring for someone with dementia. Topics include: Building the Foundations of Caregiving, Supporting the Independence, Communicating Effectively, Responding to Dementia-Related Behaviors and Exploring Care and Support Services.
     
    Understanding Down Syndrome, IDD, and Dementia: Awareness, Diagnosis and Care
    This hybrid conference brings together families, caregivers, and professionals to explore how Down Syndrome and IDD relate to dementia. Participants will learn about early signs, diagnosis, and practical, person-centered care strategies through expert presentations.
     
    Understanding the Role of Blood-Based Biomarkers in Alzheimer's Disease
    Blood-based biomarkers are an emerging, minimally invasive tool that can help support earlier and more accurate detection of Alzheimer’s disease by identifying biological changes in the blood associated with Alzheimer’s pathology. Join us for a conversation with Dr. Sheena Aurora, Vice President of Medical Affairs for the Alzheimer's Association, about biomarkers and who may benefit from these tests.
