Support and education in your community

Community Educator: In this role, you will deliver Association-developed presentations that increase understanding about Alzheimer's, caregiving, brain health and other topics. Training on the Association's core education programs is required and will be provided to you. Must be an effective communicator with good public speaking skills and be interested in educating the public. Bilingual speakers needed.

Community Outreach: Outreach volunteers ensure more people know about and access available resources. These roles include distributing materials such as catalogs or flyers in retail establishments, community centers, religious organizations, etc for local programs.

Community Representative: You can help your community learn about the Alzheimer's Association and its free services by attending health fairs and other local events. Support is needed in settting up displays, distributing information and conversing with the public about dementia and the services we provide. Volunteers will receive training on the basics of the disease, the Alzheimer's Association and our mission.

Support Group Facilitator: The role of the facilitator is to create a supportive setting where group members connect with each other and benefit from the shared wisdom and experience of living with dementia. Facilitators must have strong listening skills and be effective communicators. Experience with dementia as a family member or health care professional is preferred. Ability to be empathic, create and maintain a safe environment and redirect and facilitate discussions is also required. Early-stage support group facilitators must be a masters-level mental health professional (e.g., social worker, psychologist, professional counselor) or equivalent experience.

    Fundraising events

Advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association by participating in our signature fundraising events such as Walk to End Alzheimer’s® and The Longest Day®. We have a wide range of event opportunities such as planning committees, thank you calls, event day support and team recruitments.

Photographer: We are seeking volunteers that have a photography background. Depending on your availability, this would include attending our chapter events and assisting our media relations manager with photography that will be used for marketing material. Experience is required.
