Houston & Southeast Texas Alzheimer’s and Dementia Support Groups

Houston & Southeast Texas Alzheimer’s and Dementia Support Groups

The Alzheimer’s Association holds local online and in-person support groups for caregivers and individuals living with Alzheimer's and other dementias.

The Alzheimer’s Association works to bring care and support to every community so that no one has to face dementia alone. Support groups, led by trained facilitators, create a safe, confidential and supportive environment, providing an opportunity for participants to develop mutual support and social relationships.

For a calendar of this month's available support groups in the Houston & Southeast Texas Chapter Area, click here, or search by Zip Code to find the support group nearest you.

If you have early-stage Alzheimer's or another form of dementia

Support groups for individuals diagnosed with early-stage Alzheimer's are available.

Our early-stage support groups intend to provide a safe and positive environment for individuals who have a physician’s diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease, another dementia or a related disorder.

There is a brief screening process to ensure that the group is a good fit for you. If you are interested in attending a group, please call our 24/7 Helpline at 800.272.3900.

    Caregiver support groups

Our caregiver support groups offer comfort, reassurance, practical advice and a community of people who are facing similar challenges. These meetings are for unpaid family members or friends caring for someone living with Alzheimer’s disease, another dementia or a related disorder. People who attend should be comfortable and open to discussing their experience in a group setting.

    How to Attend

Support group details are updated regularly and are subject to change. For this month’s support group listings, find the current calendar here.

To verify a particular group is planning to meet and to pre-register for the meeting (which we encourage) click through on the calendar above or search by Zip Code to find the support group nearest you.

Support groups are for individuals to share with one another in a confidential setting and are not venues appropriate for service providers, paid caregivers or product representatives.

    ALZConnected® online community

ALZConnected is a free online community designed for people living with dementia and those who care for them. Members can post questions about dementia-related issues, offer support, and create public and private groups around specific topics.
