We maintain updated information on home care, adult day care, care coordination, assisted living, skilled nursing facilities, eldercare lawyers and transporation available in the community. Our staff and trained professionals can help assess whether a specific care provider meets the needs of an individual with Alzheimer's or other dementia. Alzheimer's Workplace Alliance

The Alzheimer's Workplace Alliance (AWA) provides companies and organizations with complimentary resources for their employees who are caring for a person with Alzheimer’s disease or another dementia. Members — AWA Corporate Champions — receive tools to raise awareness of Alzheimer's and engage all employees in the fight against the disease. The Alliance is made possible by the Alzheimer's Association.

The Alzheimer's Association, Central Ohio Chapter has found information contained on these websites to be helpful for those dealing with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias in the Central Ohio area. Readers are encouraged to confirm information with reliable sources and to direct any questions concerning their personal health to licensed physicians or other appropriate health care professionals. 

• Adult Protective Services - Assists impaired adults who may be harmed do to abuse, neglect, or exploitation.

• African American Alzheimer's and Wellness Association - "We are here to help" offering culturally sensitive support for caregivers and those affected by Alzheimer's and other dementias. 
• Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging - Provides a variety of services including assessments, home and community based services, information, education and caregiver support.
• City of Columbus Health Department
• Council for Older Adults of Delaware County - Information, assistance, adult protective services, caregiver resource center and nutrition information.
• Franklin County Office on Aging - Senior Options program - financial assistance for direct access to a wide range of community based services.
• Franklin County Job and Family Services - Locations of Opportunity Centers where Medicaid applications are accepted.
• Ohio Department of Aging - Locate your Area Agency on Aging.
• Catholic Social Services - Enables low income senior citizens to regain or maintain their independence.
• Concord Counseling Services - Offers counseling. Also offers in-home service for residents of Westerville and New Albany over the age of 55.
• Jewish Family Services - Link to senior section that provides a wide range of services to help older adults live independently.
• The Legal Aid Society of Columbus - Provides legal assistance and legal planning in civil cases to low income individuals who cannot afford to hire an attorney.

ICARA Study

Be a part of scientific research and engage your brain!

The Cognition and Aging Lab at the Ohio State University is recruiting participants diagnosed with Mild Cognitive Impairment or Early-Stage Alzheimer's to a paid research study. The study , funded by the Ntaional Institute on Aging, involves making simple decisions on a computer involving perception, numbers, and memory. This non-invasive, no medication study is just one-time one-hour session that can be scheduled at a convenient time and location for you. Participants are paid $25. OSU Caregiver study 

Help needed from dementia caregivers with a paid study at OSU! They are recruiting
individuals over the age of 18 who provide informal/unpaid care to a relative or friend who has dementia. The purpose of the study is to develop a self-reported assessment of unmet caregivers' needs to help connect caregivers with the services they need.
You will be asked to complete questionnaires about your experiences as a caregiver.
These can be completed in your own home by computer or physical copies sent in the mail. Expected articipation should take roughly 1.5 to 2-hours. In appreciation of your time, all participants will be compensated with a $20 gift card. A subset of participants who complete a shorter follow up survey 6-months after will receive an additional $10 gift card.
