Those who love or care for someone with dementia know there is a limit to what they can do on their own. Unfortunately, many find this out the hard way. They try to walk this difficult journey alone, perhaps helping in isolation, caring for a spouse or parent who has Alzheimer’s.  Determined, they don’t reach out for resources or the encouragement that is close by. They often suffer from burnout, resentment, fatigue, or even physical distress.

The missions of Oasis Senior Advisors and the Alzheimer’s Association are in harmony. That is why we are honored to be this year’s signature sponsor of the Rocky Mountain Conference on Dementia. Because of the Alzheimer’s Association, families have vital information and resources to make informed decisions and the reassurance of others who can encourage them along the way. Oasis shares this passion to be a trusted resource and advocate as well.

In his book, “The Power of the Other: The startling effect other people have on you,” psychologist Dr. Henry Cloud writes: “When you get the power of the other on your side, you can surpass whatever limit you are currently experiencing or will ever experience in the future.”

The services of Oasis Senior Advisors are free to families, and we are proud to partner with the Alzheimer’s Association to be the “other” in the lives of people who love or care for people with dementia. Oasis’ Senior Advisors are certified, trained at walking alongside family members when their loved one can no longer thrive at home. We personally and expertly guide families through the process of finding the perfect memory care community for their loved one. Oasis also has insights into supplemental or alternative resources, such as in-home care.

Information is power when it comes to tackling the care of those with dementia. And for Oasis, information is power for tackling where to find the “others” who can care for those with dementia, including memory care communities. Oasis Senior Advisors use a proprietary database called Oasis IQ. With it, Oasis is able to filter information based not only specific care needs of a loved one, but geographic, costs, and amenities of the communities as well.

After Oasis IQ is deployed, our advisors use this powerful information to guide families with the reassurance that they are making the right decision in moving their loved one, and reassurance that they’ve found the right place. The right place makes all the difference.

If you’re struggling under the weight of caring for a loved one by going it alone, take heart.  There’s help from others. Not only the latest information provided by the Alzheimer’s Association, but also by the guiding experts at Oasis Senior Advisors.

Facing a disease like dementia alone is like wandering through the desert. It leaves both caregivers and loved ones weary and exhausted. Oasis is a more than a spring in the desert. It’s the power of the “other” that can bring you and your loved ones the refreshment that you’ve been seeking.

Dementia-Guide-Cover-(1).jpgFor a limited time, Oasis is offering a dementia guide written by an Oasis Senior Advisor and Certified Dementia Trainer, Beth Friesen. This book, “I Love Someone with Dementia. So why am I losing my mind?” is free to any family that schedules a no-obligation consultation with Oasis during the online Dementia Conference.
