MarkThompsonWeb.pngMark Thompson, Chief Growth Officer for Delta Dental of Colorado, has been elected chair of the board of the Alzheimer’s Association of Colorado for 2023. An executive with over 20 years’ experience in health insurance and related fields, Thompson is a Highlands Ranch resident and ultra-running enthusiast.

Thompson provides executive leadership and direction to support corporate business strategies at Delta Dental of Colorado. He is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors and has served on the board of the Dental Lifeline Network. In 2023, he will be joining the board for Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado.

Also elected to officer positions on the 16-person board for the coming year are:
  • Teresa Valko, vice chair – a pharmaceutical researcher from Durango who is serving as chair for the San Juan Alzheimer’s and Dementia Initiative. Valko is an experienced board professional, having served previously as chair of the California Central Coast chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, chair of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in southwest Colorado and chair for the Colorado Chapter’s The Longest Day program.
  • Katherine Schultz, member at large – project portfolio manager for PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC). The Denver resident has extensive experience in business development, project management and internal operations.
  • Alejandro Daza, engagement committee chair – the Broomfield resident is a manager at KPMG who brings more than 15 years of experience in energy economics, project management, software implementation, and work as an analyst and technical consultant in the power and utilities industries.
“I am very excited about the energy and enthusiasm our new officer team brings to the Colorado Chapter,” said Jeff Bird, executive director of the Alzheimer's Association of Colorado. “Not only are these accomplished professionals in their respective fields, but each of these individuals brings a personal connection to this tragic disease that helps fuel their passion to help us provide the best services possible to our community and, most importantly, find a cure.”

  • James Callahan, founding and managing partner, Saza Wealth Partners, Denver
  • Rebecca Chopp, University of Denver chancellor (retired), Broomfield
  • Brian Gonzales, clinical assistant professor, University of Denver, Denver
  • Eric Janes, KPMG manager, deal advisory and strategy, Denver
  • Shay Kerman, president and COO, AFC Urgent Care, Denver
  • Ingrid Nagy, owner, Catering by Design, Denver
  • Erica Waxman, group counsel, Nephrology Solutions by DaVita, Highlands Ranch
