From planning an event to hosting a support group to providing community support, there are many ways to get involved. See below for opportunities that best fit your interests and availability. Ways That You Can Get Involved
Community educator: Deliver community education programs using prepared training materials on topics related to Alzheimer’s disease, other dementias and memory loss as well as information for individuals and families impacted by the disease. Caregiver support group facilitator: Help facilitate support groups that provide emotional, educational and social support to those caring for someone living with Alzheimer’s or another dementia.Specific program volunteer applications are available at volunteer.alz.org.
Early-stage support group facilitator: Help facilitate support groups that offer dementia-related education, emotional support, and connections with resources so that group members may live their best life for as long as possible. Specific program volunteer applications are available at volunteer.alz.org.
Faith Outreach Representative: Alzheimer's Association Faith Outreach Representatives (FORs) are community engagers that raise awareness of Alzheimer's Association programs, provide basic disease information, and link consumers to Alzheimer’s Association services. FORs serve as liaisons between the Alzheimer's Association and local faith groups and congregations. Specific program volunteer applications are available at volunteer.alz.org.
Promotores: Alzheimer's Association Promotores are volunteer community engagers that raise awareness of Alzheimer's Association programs, provide basic disease information, and link consumers to Alzheimer’s Association services. Promotores represent the Alzheimer’s Association by sharing information about Alzheimer’s disease, free resources offered through the Alzheimer’s Association, and the many ways to join our cause at local community and education events. Community Representative: Alzheimer's Association Community Representatives engage their community in different ways to bring awareness and knowledge about the Alzheimer's Association. Specific program volunteer applications are avaiable at volunteer.alz.org.
Special events volunteer: Assist with the planning and execution of fundraisers such as Walk to End Alzheimer’s, The Longest Day and RivALZ Committee member tasks include recruiting team members, raising revenue, increasing awareness and implementing event activities. Advocate: Help improve the quality of care and quality of life for people with Alzheimer’s disease and their families by carrying our message to elected officials at the federal, state and local levels. Communicate with elected officials via petitions, phone calls and other calls-to-action, participate in area events, and share your story. Learn more here!
