Jam Sessions

An informal jam session for musicians with early stage memory loss and musicians who are caregivers. This group meets on the 4th Thursdays of the month (with exception in November and December due to the holidays, when we will meet on the 2nd Thursday on those months).

Arts and Inspiration

This is an opportunity for individuals with Alzheimer's to experience creative encounters. This group meets at the same time that their care partners are attending a support group in the same building, but a separate room. The group meets on the fourth Thursday of every month at 10:00 a.m. at the Alzheimer's Association Education Center, 3856 W. 75th Street, Prairie Village, KS. Minds in Motion

The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, in partnership with the Alzheimer's Association - Heart of America Chapter, provides free gallery experiences for individuals with memory loss The group meets on the first Wednesday of every month at 1:00 p.m. See 2019 tour dates. Memory Cafe

Memory Cafe provides a place for those living with dementia and their care partners to meet new people, explore new ideas, and stay engaged in the community. There are two Memory Cafe locations. One at the Kansas City Public Library (see below) and one in St. Joseph, MO. The St. Joseph Memory Cafe meets at Word of Life Church, 3902 NE Riverside Rd. at 10:00 a.m. on the second Thursday of each month. For more information, contact Brenda Gregg at 816.364.4467 or

Dementia-friendly programs at The Kansas City Public Library, Plaza Branch

Movies and Memories is held on the first Wednesday of each month starting March 2019 at 10:30 a.m. These movies are part of a special, intergenerational cinema series for individuals with dementia, their friends, and families.

Memory Cafe is held on the third Tuesday of each month at 10:30 a.m. See Memory Cafe description above.
