Based on the guidance from local public health agencies, all in-person social engagement activities with the Heart of America Chapter have been postponed, however many social engagement groups are being held virtually.

Memory Café

4th Wednesday of every month
9:30 - 10:30 a.m.

A virtual social gathering for individuals living with memory loss, mild cognitive impairment or dementia as well as their care partner — a spouse, partner, family member or caregiver. Virtual Memory Café utilizes a variety of structured activities to promote social interaction, engagement, cognition and reminiscing. This is an opportunity for loved ones and care partners to form new bonds of friendship in a safe, supportive and welcoming setting.

Jam Session

3rd Thursday of every month
2:30 - 3:30 p.m.

A virtual social gathering for individuals living with memory loss, mild cognitive impairment or dementia, their families and care partners. Join us while we sing songs, play instruments, move to the beat or simply listen while enjoying the music we will make. No musical experience is necessary, just show up virtually and join the fun.

Caregiver Book Club

Community Corner

1st Wednesday of every month
1:00 - 2:00 p.m.

An informative social engagement program for individuals in diverse communities to gather virtually to discuss numerous topics regarding Alzheimer’s and other dementias. The group is facilitated by Lucille Lowe, an experienced caregiver who has been trained by the Alzheimer’s Association as a Community educator. Lucille welcomes anyone to join this group.

ALZ about Kansas is a virtual learning opportunity to explore Kansas state history. This social enagegement program is appropriatefor individuals living with Alzheimer's and other dementia and their care partners and family members, as well as anyone else who is interested in Kansas history. Participants inthis program will have opportunities to engage in meaningful learning and social connection. ALZabout Kansas is presented in partnership withthe Alzheimer's Association -Heart of America Chapter and the Flint Hills Discovery Center.
