Mission
Young Champions is committed to building a community of like-minded members who are dedicated to changing the landscape of Alzheimer’s and other dementias as a whole. Young Champions members are inspired to advocate for Alzheimer’s and dementia initiatives, fundraise for research and care, and educate themselves and others, while, most importantly, supporting one another.

Meet some of our members
Kelsey Krause | President, Young Champions

My name is Kelsey and I have been involved with the Young Champions for a little over three years. I wanted to get involved because I have lost three of my grandparents to Alzheimer's and this group has given me a place to fundraise, advocate and be involved in a cause that I am very invested in . I am currently the President of Young Champions and was fundraising chair for two years before that. I am excited to volunteer in the community more this year with the group and gain new members.
Outside of volunteering with Young Champions, I am a preschool teacher working with young toddlers. I love to travel, read and attend festivals or concerts in my spare time.
Ellie Kapeller | Volunteer Chair, Young Champions

Hello! My name is Ellie, and I serve as the Volunteer Chair for Young Champions. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Health and Wellbeing at the University of Minnesota, following a pre-medical track. My passion for Young Champions and the mission of the Alzheimer’s Association stems not only from my academic interest in medicine and research but also from personal experiences—Alzheimer’s and dementia have affected several of my loved ones. As Volunteer Chair, I’ve really enjoyed the relationships we’ve built with assisted living facilities in the area, and I’m excited about the volunteer events we have planned with them. Philanthropy is something I’m deeply passionate about, and I look forward to welcoming you to the Young Champions community!
