Alzheimer advocate competes for Miss America crown

On Saturday, Jan. 26, Melissa Chaty of the Alzheimer's Association San Diego/Imperial Chapter will compete as Miss California in the Miss America pageant in Las Vegas. The pageant will air live on TLC (check listings at tlc.discovery.com).

Melissa is using her Miss California title to raise awareness of Alzheimer's disease. As Miss California, Melissa has received press coverage from TLC's "Miss America Reality Check," celebrity writer Robin Leach, The Las Vegas Review-Journal and The Santa Rosa Press Democrat.
