“Away from Her” earns two Oscar nods

“Away from Her,” a film about a woman slipping away to Alzheimer’s, was honored with two Academy Award nominations.

Julie Christie garnered a Best Actress nod for role as Fiona. Christie previously won a Golden Globe for her performance. Actress and Alzheimer Champion Sarah Polley was nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay, based on “The Bear Came Over the Mountain,” a short story by acclaimed novelist Alice Munro. Polley also directed the film, which is available on DVD.
