Community Educators
Community Educators are volunteer speakers who help provide education and expand the reach of Alzheimer's Association programs. Community Educators deliver Alzheimer's Association programs on topics related to Alzheimer's disease and other dementias using prepared materials.
These volunteers provide programs scheduled by Association staff and help identify potential community partners and education venues using their established community networks. Community educators assure that the general public, caregivers and people living with Alzheimer's or dementia are linked to Alzheimer's Association programs and our free 24/7 Helpline. They are true partners with our staff and extend the reach of our programs to all communities.
Community Representatives
Community Representatives are community engagers that raise awareness of Alzheimer's Association programs, provide basic disease information, and link consumers to Alzheimer's Association services.
These volunteers serve as liaisons between the Association and local groups such as neighborhoods, rural counties, business and civic organizations or faith communities. Community Representatives share information about Alzheimer's disease, free resources offered through the Alzheimer's Association, and the many ways to join our cause at local community and education events.
Support Group Facilitators
Support Group Facilitators create a safe, open environment where people share their feelings, thoughts and experience in a combined effort to better cope with and manage the shared problems of dementia. The goal of support groups is to provide emotional, social and/or educational support to group members.
Facilitator lead monthly meetings for family caregivers, adult children, spouses, or people living with dementia in the community. The groups are established in collaboration with the Alzheimer's Association staff in neutral, accessible and safe locations.
Community Volunteer Leaders
Community Volunteer Leaders help to recruit program volunteers, network, build relationships, plan and promote local events, and evaluate community needs.
Community Volunteer Leaders traditionally serve an underserved rural or minority communities to raise awareness and expand the reach of Alzheimer’s Association Programs. Additionally, they may serve on Chapter outreach and program leadership committees.
