The Alzheimer’s Association Long Island Chapter provides support, education, training and other resources across Nassau and Suffolk counties to increase knowledge and to support those facing Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. We are here to help. Helpline The Alzheimer's Association 24-Hour Helpline serves people with memory loss, caregivers, health care professionals and the public, providing reliable information and support to all those who need assistance. Care Consultations Care Consultations assist individuals living with dementia and their families solve immediate problems and plan for the future. These meetings with our dementia experts include the preparation of needs assessments and action plans. Support Groups We offer peer- and professionally-led support groups for caregivers and others living with Alzheimer's disease. All support groups are facilitated by trained individuals. We also offer specialized groups for spousal/partner caregivers and caregivers at different stages of the disease. Education Programs Available in-person and online, our education programs feature information on topics including the signs of Alzheimer’s disease, diagnosis, communication, living with Alzheimer’s and caregiving techniques. MedicAlert® with 24/7 Wandering Support The Alzheimer’s Association, in collaboration with MedicAlert Foundation, provides membership plans with 24/7 Wandering Support, a nationwide emergency response service for individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease or another dementia who wander or have a medical emergency. If a member wanders and is missing, one phone call immediately activates MedicAlert’s Emergency Response Team to help reunite the person living with dementia with his or her family. Social Engagement Programs Social programs for individuals with Alzheimer's disease and their caregivers that promotes meaningful connections and networking among peers while enjoying cultural attractions, art and music.
