Giving Cash and Cash Equivalent Gifts

Cash and cash equivalent gifts are some of the easiest ways to support the Alzheimer's Association. Whether you want to make an immediate impact or include us in your estate plans, these types of donations offer flexibility and simplicity.

What counts as a cash or cash equivalent gift?

Cash gifts include money you give directly, such as:

    • Personal checks.
    • Credit or debit card payments.
    • Online donations.

Cash equivalents are items that can be quickly converted into cash, including:

    • Money orders.
    • Bank drafts or cashier's checks.
    • Wire transfers.
    • Certain gift cards.

If you're unsure whether your gift qualifies, please contact us.

    Benefits of donating cash

Cash and cash equivalent gifts are popular because:

    • They are simple to arrange.
    • They can be used right away to support our work.
    • They may qualify for a charitable tax deduction.
    • They can be given during your lifetime or through your estate.

Some donors choose to make a one-time gift now and include a larger gift in their will or trust. Others use cash gifts to establish a charitable gift annuity or create a donor-advised fund.

    Ways to give cash

    • Outright gifts are simply gifts made to the organization by mail, online or at an event.
    • You can also use cash to fund many gift arrangements.
    • Adding cash to a donor-advised fund is a great way to simplify your giving and record keeping.
