    Giving Through Life Insurance

Life insurance offers a flexible and often overlooked way to make a meaningful charitable donation. You can use an existing policy, or purchase a new one, and name the Alzheimer's Association as the beneficiary.

    Benefits of gifting life insurance

    • Make a large future gift at a small cost today.
    • Remove taxable assets from your estate.
    • Easy to arrange through a beneficiary designation or policy transfer.

Infographic showing how making a charitable donation to the Alzheimer's Association by naming us as beneficiary in your life insurance policy may provide tax deductions for you. The process is divided into four parts, organized in a horizontal row. See this page's text for a full description of giving through your life insurance policy.

    Ways to give life insurance

There are a few ways to structure a life insurance gift:

    • Name the Alzheimer's Association as beneficiary. Designate us as a full or partial beneficiary of your policy. It's easy and doesn't affect your current finances.
    • Transfer ownership of an existing policy. You can transfer ownership of a paid-up policy or continue paying premiums. You could receive a charitable deduction for the policy's value and any future premiums.
    • Purchase a new policy. Take out a new policy with the Alzheimer's Association as owner and beneficiary. Premiums you pay may be tax-deductible.
