    The Alzheimer's Association is committed to the transparent sharing of our governance policies, financial reports and partnership information.

    The Association forges partnerships with those who share our commitment to end Alzheimer's and other dementia, including organizations around the globe, the National Institutes of Health, the National Institute on Aging, universities, corporations and the pharmaceutical, biotech and device industries.

    We work with ethical companies, organizations and individuals that share our mission while maintaining independence and actively safeguarding against outside influence. Importantly, no contribution from, or partnership with, any entity or individual impacts the Alzheimer's Association's decision-making, nor our positions on issues related to people living with Alzheimer's or other dementia and their families.

    External standards

    We take our position as a nonprofit leader and adherence to external standards very seriously. The Alzheimer's Association is in compliance with the following guidelines and standards:

    Better Business Bureau

    The Alzheimer's Association national organization is proud to meet the Standards for Charity Accountability of the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance and to display the BBB Wise Giving Seal.

    The BBB Wise Giving Alliance is a charity watchdog that collects and distributes information on hundreds of nonprofit organizations that solicit nationally or have national or international program services. The Alliance has developed 20 comprehensive standards for charitable organizations to follow and to help donors make sound giving decisions.     Charity Navigator

    The Alzheimer's Association is rated a Four-Star Charity by Charity Navigator, their highest possible rating. An organization receives four stars when it exceeds or meets best practices and industry standards across almost all areas and is likely to be a highly effective charity.     Candid's GuideStar

    National Health Council

    The Alzheimer's Association is a Voluntary Health Agency member of the National Health Council. We meet the NHC Standards of Excellence®, demonstrating the highest degree of accountability and transparency.

    Direct marketing standards

    The Association adheres to the standards and practices of the Association of National Advertisers (ANA), a trade association focused on ethical marketing standards, when sending direct mail to our constituents. Learn more about the ANA’s ethical business practices.

    The Donor Bill of Rights

    The Alzheimer’s Association adheres to the Donor Bill of Rights. The bill was created by the American Association of Fund Raising Counsel (AAFRC), Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP), the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).
